Founded in 1983, Sentinel Oak Vineyard is located 40 miles East of Sacramento in the heart of Amador County's Shenandoah Valley, famous for producing exceptional wines.

At 1,500 feet in California's beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills, the vineyard escapes the heat of the California central valley floor and is low enough to miss the frequent frosts experienced at higher altitudes. This is the ideal site for growing wine grapes with character!

Believing in good stewardship of the land and applying the best farming practices, we sustain the vineyard in a healthy balance with its natural environment. We stay on the cutting edge of the latest developments in winemaking and grape growing by routinely participating in U.C. Davis and industry sponsored seminars and conferences.

Our grapes have produced wines that consistently receive glowing reviews from the Wine Spectator, the Wall Street Journal's "Smart Money," Decanter Magazine, Jim Laube’s California Wine, The Global Encyclopedia of Wine, the DK series of Wines of the World, Connoisseurs' Guide, among others.

Domaine de la Terre Rouge Winery paid the ultimate compliment, by giving Sentinel Oak Vineyard Pyramid Block vineyard designation.

Our blocks have been carefully developed and produce wines with distinction. We wish to find winemakers who desire to make great wines.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
