We founded Four Bears Winery and Sean Minor Wines in 2005 for a number of reasons. First and foremost, we wanted to make delicious, quality wines that continually exceed your expectations.

We are all about family and we named our business for our four children: Nick, Elle, Jack and Charlie. Starting our own winery is both a professional and personal dream. Not long after Nicole and I were married, we discovered that our second largest monthly expense was wine. We enjoy wine every day with dinner, when friends and family come to visit, during celebrations... actually, I can’t think of time we don’t enjoy wine. Our wines come from premium vineyard sites strategically located near the cool marine influences of the sun filled California coast. With each new vintage, we offer wines of consistent flavor and exceptional quality from vineyards that are perfectly suited to that particular varietal. In order for a wine to be considered it must exude the characteristics of the grape variety, and then of its chosen vineyard site within a specifically selected appellation. You can always expect to enjoy a cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay under our label, but you’ll also find other varietals from various appellations such as our Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc and Napa Valley Merlot. After a number of years in the industry, I knew there had to be a better and more affordable way to produce great wines that didn’t have severe consequences on the pocket book.

We started Four Bears Winery and began sourcing wine lots for our final blends. With the help of a family friend and colleague, Will Bucklin, our initial production featured a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Coast Chardonnay, and Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc. Since then we have added the Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley Merlot, and a Napa Valley Carneros Pinot Noir. Just as our family and children have grown, so has our business. We decided our winery would eventually include more than one label — each with a different focus and personality — much like children. Rather than delay the process, we chose to reposition the company name to Sean Minor Wines, thereby allowing for the future growth of other proprietary labels. At this current time, we have one label — Four Bears — now available with the new Sean Minor Wines packaging. Same great wines with a new look!!

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
