Sciandri Family Vineyards is a small family owned and operated winery in the heart of Coombsville in the Napa Valley. Drawing from it's roots in a small village in Italy, Quercia, the Sciandri Family is excited to begin a new venture into the world of wine.In 2006 Ron and Roberta Sciandri made the decision to start Sciandri Family Vineyards. They had much to learn and thankfully each member of the family has jumped in a take charge of a particular portion of the business. The family has also teamed up with Javier Renteria (Vineyard Manager) and Don Baker (Wine Maker) who bring to the table over 100 combined years of experience in the wine industry. Using the grapes grown on the families 20 acre estate, they currently only bottle an Estate Grown-Cabernet Sauvignon.

For the family, the goals are modest. They want to produce a wine that they are proud to serve to family and friends, and they want to have fun in the process. It is clear, that they have succeeded on both fronts.Don oversaw every aspect of the project from land acquisition to the construction of what was to be a 350,000 case production winery. After the Vina Calina winery was complete, Don returned to California in 2000, refreshed and inspired by his international experience and renewed his relationship with long time colleague Bill Hill. As the former winemaker for Bighorn Cellars, Don worked closely with Bill to create the style of wine they are both passionate about- elegant and balanced with the fruit showing the way.

When it comes to wine making, Don Baker believes that wine should be an expression of varietal purity. The fruit should shine first and foremost without being overwhelmed by too much oak or malolactic fermentation. To Don, wine making is about bringing “perfect balance in the cellar to what Mother Nature has created in the vineyard.” His goal is to simply guide his wines through fermentation, utilizing only the finest fruit and the gentlest handling possible.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
