It is our hope that our wines reflect one of our greatest strengths: our grape source comprised of fifty acres of prized vineyard located in the heart of the Rutherford Growing District. Rather than imposing on our wines a preconceived style or succumbing to a highly extracted, over-oaked style of wine that can mask the underlying quality of the fruit, we strive through our winemaking to produce a wine that is true to its varietal characteristics and also expresses the unique qualities of a Rutherford-born wine.

Our wines reflect the unique characteristics of each vintage and of the Rutherford growing district. It begins in the vineyard---as we use only a small percentage of the grapes grown on our estate, the fruit that is perfect to the eye and loaded with flavor. We hire harvest crews chosen for their selective picking techniques, and then we hand sort to insure we are using nothing but the finest fruit. Using gentle, gravity-fed systems in the winery, a judicious use of oak barrel aging in the finest French oak, and daily attention to the wines during aging, we produce the finest wines possible in small, select quantities. Our total production is just 6,400 cases annually, and all of our wines are 100% estate grown and bottled. In 1984, our ownership predecessors, Bill and Lila Jeager, replanted the property to wine grapes. We purchased the original 40-acre vineyard, complete with its old, redwood barn, in 1994. The property extends east from Highway 29 down to the banks of the Napa River and is planted primarily to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller blocks of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc.. In 1991 we made our first Cabernet Sauvignon - 120 cases. After an exhaustive, four year search, we finally found that "perfect place" right in the heart of the Napa Valley in the famed Rutherford appellation.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
