San Martiño Winery & Vineyards, located in the outskirts of the Dallas Metroplex, produces big, bold, full-bodied wines that deliver on flavor. Each wine is a direct expression of our winemaking philosophy of “maximum extraction, minimal intervention." To achieve this we obtain the finest possible fruit, and make the finest possible wines. We are committed to quality and value.

We are a small family-owned winery specializing in handcrafted wines using modern techniques but with a traditional “soul” borne in the fertile lands of northwestern Spain. The village of San Martiño, (see picture below), located in the mountains of the Galician region, has been making traditional wines for hundreds of years. It was at the village of San Martiño that our love and knowledge of wine and wine making techniques started. Through years of watching and helping our family in the vineyard and the cellar we came to appreciate the special relationship between people, their land and the food they grow.

The legacy of a winemaking family along with perseverance, hard work, vision, and passion were the elements that created San Martiño Winery & Vineyards in 2003. The land occupied by the winery today was cleared by hand by Emilio and Maria Ramos and a winemaking facility was built where only Junipers and brush existed.

Using purchased grapes from the High Plains appellation, the 2003 harvest was quickly approaching and the crushing equipment had not yet arrived from Italy. In addition, delays in construction created additional obstacles to getting the winery operational in time for processing grapes. However, Mother Nature didn’t bother with shipping and construction delays. Our first grapes arrived mid-September 2003 and all had to be processed by hand in a yet unfinished building. Working in 10 hrs shifts and with the help of some friends the first harvest of San Martiño Winery & Vineyards was completed by the start of the Fall season for a total case production of 5,200 bottles.

Today the winery produces approximately 92,000 bottles of wine using state of the art equipment. What took 28 hrs to process in 2003, takes now only a hand-full of hours. However, just like the first harvest, our family along with good friends continues to de-stem, crush and process grapes from Texas each fall and make the result of this monumental effort available for all to taste and enjoy.

Over the years the winery has expanded and grown, became modernized and won extensive awards not only in Texas but also in international competitions such as San Francisco, Los Angeles and others. But the soul of San Martiño Winery & Vineyards is not the modern and beautiful facilities, but in the sweat, energy and time that everyone involved with our winery has invested over the years.

Every bottle of wine contains not only a precious liquid for you to enjoy, but it also contains our time, our efforts, our friends unselfish dedication to our success, the aches and pains of many overworked backs and the laugh and enjoyment of the post production and bottling gatherings. Our name is on each bottle and our story and dreams are inside of it.
