Salerno Winery is small family owned boutique winery, one of the newest in the Ramona area. Our first vintage was 2002. Our historic adobe ranch house overlooks the rolling hills of Ramona at elevations above 1,500 feet. Rich soils and a unique micro-climate yield premium grapes. Due to Ramona’s special terroir this area has just been recognized with its own appellation, “ Ramona Valley”. This is a huge accomplishment for this area’s up and coming wineries. Our vineyards yield wines of extraordinary depth and character. Herman Salerno, the proprietor, has been making wine for about 18 years as a wine aficionado, winning personal awards in the wine making world since 1988. He uses traditional hand-crafted methods to produce premium wine.
At the moment, we have four types of red wines: Petite Sirah, our signature wine, (a Double Gold Medal AND Gold Sweepstakes winner), Elegante, our fantastic red blend and medal winner, Cabernet Sauvignon, our fruity wine, and Imagination, a Barolo-type red blend. We will soon release our first vintage of 2004 Sensation (100% Ruby Cabernet) and our first release of white wines, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat Canelli. Our wines are available at some of San Diego’s finest restaurants, wine bars and markets. Call for information.
Salerno Winery is original and famous for its family ambiance, its wood-fired pizza, and Argentinean barbecue. We look forward to hosting future wine tastings and we are thrilled about the possibility of winning more awards at upcoming events. We are also looking forward to becoming the best winery in San Diego County and achieving name recognition for “ Ramona Valley” wines.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
