Welcome to the Ruston Family Vineyards website. We are a vineyard and winemaking company located in California’s Napa Valley. Our small, gently sloping hillside vineyard is located west of the town of St. Helena. Our family has been farming here since 1941. In place of the old prune and walnut orchards, we now grow cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot grape vines. We also buy grapes from a few choice vineyards in the Napa Valley, such as the Stagecoach Vineyard, in the mountains east of Oakville, and the Kenefick Ranch in Calistoga.

Our wines from the 1999-2001 vintages were made by Bordeaux-trained winemaker Philippe Melka. Joshua Krupp, another rising star of Napa winemaking, joined us for the 2002 harvest. Prior to that, Joshua worked with Mia Klein at Fisher Vineyards, Paul Hobbs and Michel Chapoutier in the Rhone Valley.

You may have seen Ruston Family Vineyards wines on the lists of some of the nation's best restaurants including A.O.C., Ambria, Chez Panisse, Chinois on Main, Daniel, Craft, The French Laundry, Gramercy Tavern, Jean-Georges, La Toque, Mark’s American Cuisine, The Restaurant at Little Nell, Sierra Mar, Spago, T. Cook’s, Topper’s at the Wauwinet, Tru and Veritas. The wines are also available directly from us (statute allowing) and from fine wine stores in California.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
