River Grove Winery is an award-wining winery in the long established, but little known appellation of Clarksburg, California. River Grove selects grapes grown in our large vineyards (Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah) to produce and bottle sparkling and still wine. Complete control permits the wine label to have the quality designation 'Estate Bottled'.

The tiny town of Clarksburg is in, and names, the small viticulture appellation "Clarksburg". The appellation is in the delta of the Sacramento River and each afternoon a strong on-shore ocean breeze cools the vines promoting excellent grape flavor. Throughout the world premium wine is made from vineyards near rivers that moderate temperatures. After cooling the delta the now warmer air sweeps inland and becomes the widely known ‘delta breeze’; it is greatly appreciated in the surrounding valleys. The Clarksburg appellation annually grows about 40,000 tons of grapes for premium wine.

River Grove Winery was founded in the year 2000 by Steve Pylman, President and wine grape grower and Dr. Bob Scobey, Winemaker. The 250 acres of established vineyards are part of a farm owned by the Pylman family for over 150 years. The winery selects about 1% of the premium grapes for River Grove wine production. The remainder goes to wineries in Napa and Sonoma (under long term contracts to P.K. Vineyards, owned by Steve Pylman).

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
