What started out as a hobby for father and son duo Hart and Con Pekrul of Plain View Winery turned into a full-time career. It all happened in the 1980's when they had a bumper crop of berries in the garden. Living on their farm in Goltry, Hart's late wife Barbara suggested they make a batch of strawberry wine.

A single batch grew into a series of experiments with all different kinds of fruits: Cherry, blackberry, peach, apricot, crabapple and a combination of multiple fruits. As the hobby continued and the recipe was tweaked they found friends and neighbors bringing them baskets of fruits and bottles and placing special requests for wine.

Now, 30 years later, they have the opportunity to share their wines and visit with people from all over the United States. By the fall of 2001, Plain View Winery was born. Plain View Winery is nestled in Lahoma, on the south side of hwy 412. If you stop in for a visit bring your appetite. "We really need to install a buffet for all of the samples we serve", jokes Con.

Not only do they tempt your taste buds with samples of their fine wines, but they also give samples of the food products that they carry. Guests can try delicious jam, jelly, pickles, buffalo sausage, wine cheese and yogurt cheese. If you are up for a little fun in the kitchen, Con can send you home with a lot of inspirational cooking ideas. With 12 years of restaurant experience and great guidance in the kitchen from his mother as he was growing up, Con is a great chef. He enjoys cooking with wine - adding jalapeno wine to baked beans, blackberry wine to sautéed mushrooms, strawberry wine to white cake...and more! The possibilities are endless when it comes to the wines available at Plain view Winery.

Plain View Winery were best known for its Black Strawberry wine now we are known for "Oh My". It's a blend of concord, plum, cherry and blackberry and offers good flavor for dessert - Con recommends having a glass after dinner.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
