Come out to California Cafe in Los Gatos on May 4th for their Tasting Room Tuesday with winemakers Andy and Greg Perrucci. Enjoy a taste of Perrucci Family wines alone or if you choose, Chef Taylor will be creating some exciting dishes to pair with them. Either way, come out and be among the first to try our 2007 Estate Sangiovese and 2007 Regan Merlot.

Since settling here in California more than a century ago, the Perrucci family has never ventured far from the Santa Clara Valley. The fertile soils and mild climate are very similar to the Italian countryside they left behind. Over the decades since, the Perrucci family name became synonymous with high quality dried fruits and nuts. To ensure this high standard, the family controlled every detail of the process from farm to market. That same philosophy is applied today.

Educated in Aeronautical Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and employed in the rocket industry for the past 24 years, Andy has the background that qualifies him as the true scientist of the team. Self-trained in winemaking, his analytical approach brings precision and repeatability to the process.

Younger brother Greg left the Santa Clara Valley only briefly to finish an education in Business Administration at San Diego State. Since then, he has spent the past two decades working in the business operations and high technology fields at various large Bay Area firms. Also self-trained in winemaking and grape growing, Greg’s approach to wine is the balance of the senses. Taste, smell, color, acidity, and mouthfeel are all key factors that must be well balanced for high quality wines.

Together, the brothers’ winemaking techniques are an enviable combination of art and science with one result, great wine.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
