In 1999 Mark and Marie Jurasevich started Noble Estate Vineyard by planting the highest quality Pinot Noir grape plants. Marie and her pruning crews literally work leaf by leaf, cluster by cluster to nurture the grapes with the richest depth of soils and finest exposure to sunshine. Keeping all leaves upright and exposed to sunlight despite wind or rain make the difference. Marie says, "It's all about capturing the sun."

Mark is dedicated to making the very highest quality wine. The grapes are thinned at the rate of 3 tons down to 1.5 per acre. He admits this costs him dearly in terms of gross wine production, but the leaner vineyards ripen more quickly to prevent the October rain from diluting the quality of a vintage and increase the aroma and finesse of the wine. In addition to the grapes grown at the vineyard, Mark has acreage contacts with selected grape growers. Because we have acreage contracts, we're able to have control over the consistent quality of our grapes. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris grapes come from the Willamette Valley Region and our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes from the Rogue River Valley Region.

During our winemaking process we are careful not to mix crops from one vineyard with another. Each soil produces grapes with a distinct character and taste. Each wine is labeled with it's appellation such as Willamette Valley or Rogue Valley.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
