As the founders of Mind’s Eye Winery, Matt and Maria Kluchenek, who hail from Hinsdale, Illinois, strive to produce wines that not only surpass expectations, but challenge assumptions and boundaries. Matt and Maria founded Mind’s Eye Winery not because they had formal training in winemaking or viticulture, but because they have a passion and vision for wine.

Matt and Maria’s passion in wine is fueled, in part, by their explorations and adventures to some of the world’s great and nascent wine areas—areas such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Bordeaux, Provence, the Rhone Valley, Piedmont (Barolo), Tuscany, California’s Central Coast, and Mendocino, as well as the Finger Lakes, Michigan wine country and, of course, our “home away from home,” Napa Valley and its wonderful neighbors, the Sonoma, Russian River, Alexander and Anderson Valleys.

In exploring and experiencing the great wines and winemaking techniques of these and other areas, Matt and Maria developed a vision — in their “mind’s eye” — of the wine that they wanted to hand-craft. Matt and Maria visualized a top-tier wine that is culled from the best grapes on earth and harnessed by an expert Winemaking Team. A wine that could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with other great wines of the region, but be comparatively affordable. A wine that indulges the explorer in all of us through unmatched depth and nuance, layers of luscious flavors, and the opportunity to discover a wine that transcends boundaries.

Ultimately, wine is transduced into the memory that it creates—a memory that is formed through the exploration, experience and enjoyment of the wine. At Mind’s Eye, we commit to provide you with a wine that is ripe for exploration, worthy of experience, and delightful in enjoyment—a wine whose memory gratifies and endures.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
