Nestled in the warmest edge of the Russian River Valley, Merriam Vineyards invites guests to cross cultures while tasting California-crafted Bordeaux-style wines in a beautifully appointed tasting room designed with the comfort and warmth of a New England-style home. This new winery, representing an east meets west experience, lies in the hub of three major California appellations, Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and Alexander Valley, and is the gateway to Healdsburg’s wine country. Come and enjoy Merriam Vineyard wines on the winery terrace overlooking the magnificent Russian River Valley.

The true blending of Merriam Vineyards’ wines begins in the vineyard, where distinct varietals are planted side by side to capture the best of Sonoma County’s diverse terroir. Now, Merriam Vineyards celebrates recent plantings of pinot noir, sauvignon blanc and semillon on their Los Amigos Vineyard that graces the new winery in a climate perfectly suited to where these popular Russian River Valley grape varieties thrive.

Why Bordeaux varieties? While honeymooning in France, Peter and Diana Merriam fell in love with the country and all things French. The theme carried through first with their love of entertaining family and friends with the perfect food and wine pairings, and, in 2000, with the production of small lot, handcrafted wines from their own estate vineyard, and from grapes grown in the Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys by some of the most highly esteemed growers in Sonoma County.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
