Maple Ridge Vineyard was certified organic from 1997 to 2007 and our practices continue today including sustainable methods of farming.

Patti has conducted a number of research projects with grants from SARE and other organizations which support organic farming methods, sustainability, and biodiversity in agriculture and food processing. Studying under Dr. Elaine Ingram of Corvalis, Oregon, Patti perfected areated compost teas for both soil and foliar to establish the perfect balance in the vineyard to produce the highest quality of grapes possible. Patti has shared her knowledge through seminars at Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University.

Jim came from California and Patti's family from a working farm in Pennsylvania. Patti's family background in agriculture, her clinical nature as a Registered Nurse and the desire to excel made her the ideal wine-maker for Maple Ridge and she is the President of the Wine Farm. Jim's beginning was a wine taster in a large California opeartion and Jim's world travels and time spent at European wineries as a guest allowed him to do a great deal of research into what produces a quality wine.
