Lake James Cellars is a family owned and run winery located in the foothills of North Carolina. Our name comes from the nearby beautiful Lake James. Step through the leaded-glass front doors of our restored 1915 textile mill building, located in Glen Alpine, NC and taste the magnificent flavors of our fine wines.

We have a variety of handcrafted wines - created from local NC fruits, as well as fruits from around the world. Whether you enjoy a dry red wine, a dry white wine or a fruity sweet wine, we have wines you will enjoy. Visit our charming Gift shop and Tasting Room as you sample our Lake James Cellars bottled wine. Enjoy a slower pace of life as you relax on our covered porch with a glass of wine and wait for the train to come by. Stop in for a Wine Tasting during our normal hours (no appointment necessary). Our tastings are $5.00 (plus tax) and you get to choose any six of our wines and also take a Lake James Cellars glass home with you.

Be sure to take time to stroll through the aisles of the Old Mill Antiques located in the same building. Here you will find a variety of high quality antiques from over 20 different antique dealers. Truly a "unique shopping experience."

Lake James Cellars can provide Private Labels for your wine shop, restaurant or business. We can also provide Custom Labels for special events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and Christmas gifts.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
