Kiler Grove Winegrowers is a family owned and operated company consisting of several generations of us contributing a wide variety of skill, experience, and talent to the making of wine.

Winemaker Michael Knight grew up in the northern California wine country, but practiced his winemaking outside the state in the southwestern wine region. Making wine in the harsh climates and alkaline soils of the southwest presents numerous challenges for the winemaker. The southwest also accentuates the influence of site selection on the quality and quantity of wine being made. Those lessons have come full circle now and are the basis for Kiler Grove Winegrowers’ decisions on vineyard and wine development.

From the start we set a goal that we would not ever settle for good enough. We want the best, and we insist at every turn, every decision that we choose the path that will most likely take us to the best wine possible. If it doesn’t grow under our direct care it doesn’t go into our bottles.

We don’t make many wines because we don’t know of any other grape varietals that would succeed in our vineyard at the same level of quality as have those we planted. Our strategy is to grow the best fruit, handle it in the least intrusive manner, blend the wines with the goal of making the whole greater than the sum of the parts. We know no other way to ensure that with every bottle we offer you a top tier wine experience. It has never been easy. It has never been quick. It has been a labor of love for all of us involved and we think you will know that truth when you taste our wines.
We began 10 years ago to select and develop the KGW site and vineyard. Now we are bringing in fruit of the highest caliber from which our wines are made. We hope and expect that when you select a KGW wine that you will experience one of best wines you have ever chosen. Our vineyard is small and so is our production. Our wines are estate grown and bottled at our 3500 case per year facility. We are small enough that we personally handle each and every bottle of wine with our label upon it.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
