The J. Jenkins Winery is on 10 acres located 2 miles north of Julian in a picturesque valley with views of Volcan Moutain. The winery property includes a new wine production building and a tasting room in a rustic apple orchard and a vineyard with Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir grapes.
The inspiration for the winery was born thirty plus years ago after Jim Jenkins visited the wine country of California while serving his internship at UCSD. The dream was kept alive with amateur winemaking, as he practiced Pediatrics in San Diego. During that time, he was closely associated with the San Diego Amateur Winemaking Society and he attended enology courses at UC Davis. He retired from Pediatrics after 28 years of practice to pursue his dreams full time. On July 4, 2003, after 5 years of frustrating set-backs, the first bottle of J. Jenkins wine was sold!
Jeanne Jenkins, the co-owner of the winery and wife of Jim, does not share Jim's passion for making excellent wines; she would rather drink excellent wine than make it! Jeanne is an R.N., massage therapist, and yoga teacher, when she is not helping at the winery. While Jim is making wine, Jeanne can be found in the tasting room answering questions about wine in a light-hearted, engaging manner.
Jim and Jeanne, together with their family and friends, take care of the many winery demands from establishing a vineyard to making, bottling, and selling wine. Their goal is to produce beautiful, unique wines.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
