My wife Nicole and I (Martie), own Indian Hills Vines and Wines. I have been a country boy all my life except for the four years I spent in the United States Air Force. You know the old saying, “You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy.”

I have done all kinds of farming from gardens to hogs. I have tried about everything. My father and I had cattle and were doing custom hay baling for several years. Because of my allergies and my father’s retirement we got out of farming. I now teach fourth grade at our local school district.

I have always been a dreamer and was looking for something to do. My wife Nicole Sifford and I were sitting at a winery one day in the spring of 2005 enjoying a great glass of wine, when I turned to her and said, “you know, I think we can do this.” After the look I got, you know the one, you’re crazy or here we go again, we went home, talked it over and decided to make this our next dream.

That summer we ordered 500 Chambourcin vines and started planting in the Spring of 2006. We now have around 1030 vines of both red and white varieties and a place to make wine commercially. Nicole and I love meeting new people and visiting with them. We look forward to meeting and talking with you. Hope to see you soon.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
