Icaria Creek Winery is located at the Northern tip of Sonoma County. We are within the Alexander Valley appellation, which lies one and a half hours north of San Francisco. Our micro-appellation is what we call the Asti Foothills, situated about 400 feet above sea level.
The vineyard estate is a fifty acre piece with twenty-six acres planted to Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The fifty acre ranch has 26 acres nestled into the Asti Foothills at the northern tip of Alexander Valley. Most of the hillside vineyard sits about 400 feet above sea level where we have planted Cabernet Sauvignon (Clone 7, 337), Merlot (Clone 3), Malbec, and Petite Verdot. We also have ten acres of Chardonnay within the deep alluvial floor of Alexander Valley.
We have both the warm days for intensity, and cool nights for acidity. The hillsides give us layers of complexity that are tailor-made for constructing a "food wine".
