Settled in Beautiful Lake County, on the pristine beauty of our 900 acre Diamond B Ranch , our eighteen-acre organic Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard is producing wine of exceptional quality. Hawk and Horse Vineyards is a small family owned and operated vineyard in the prestigious Red Hills AVA in Lower Lake, California as well as being within the larger and coveted North Coast AVA which includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties.
Situated at elevations of between 1,800 to 2,200 feet on sloping hillside terrain the vineyard is composed of red rocky volcanic soils studded with “Lake County Diamonds”. The growing season, beginning in early February and ending from late September to early October, is marked by warm, bright sunny days and cool evenings. Fed by natural springs and some of the cleanest air in the nation, the microclimate of Hawk and Horse Vineyards possesses natural growing conditions perfectly suited to producing Cabernet Sauvignon of distinction. Biodynamic and Organic farming practices enable us to work in harmony with topography, soil and climate to bring out the truest expression of this very special terroir. We take great pride in our farming practices which incorporate both Organic and Biodynamic methods. We are DEMETER BIODYNAMIC and CCOF organic certified. In addition, we have obtained Lake County as well as International Organic certification.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
