We are located in the extraordinary Purisima Hills, in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley…just north of Santa Barbara. The Santa Ynez Valley is a result of a distinctive east-west mountain range formation which characterizes the Santa Ynez Valley Viticultural area. The perfect union of soil, wind and sun in this, our unique microclimate, justify the expense and complexities of our hillside vineyard planting.
The distinguishing soil of our Purisima Hill site is the limestone subsoil. The same conditions exist in the French Rhone regions.
Combined with this are clay and clay loam soils, making for the exceptional combinations we are blessed with. It sets this Purisima Hill site apart, its configuration is exclusive.
On this special site we farm 10 acres of Syrah and 1.5 acres of Grenache. Syrah falls between the full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and the lighter Pinot Noir - often smoky, peppery with licorice and blackberry, paired with foods ranging from roast chicken to game birds to beef and venison.
The great Syrah areas are still being discovered, the future for great Syrah is in the Santa Ynez Valley. Rhone style wines raised from Harrison Clarke Vin

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
