Cross the moat and step back in time to the European era. Prepare yourself for ‘A Royal Experience’ at Eagle Castle Winery. Take a self-guided Castle tour and wander through the Wine Library, Banquet Room and Upper East and West Terraces. Enjoy dining with guests in the Banquet Room or relax by sipping one of award winning wines on the terrace or in the elegant courtyard. Not only are our wines unmatched, but Eagle Castle is the perfect setting for your next special event. We hope you'll feel right at home with our warm hospitality, professional staff and beautiful surroundings.

Located 2 miles west of Highway 101 off Highway 46 west, Eagle Castle Winery sits among the Santa Lucia Mountains. With views of the rolling hills, vineyards and ranch lands, you'll feel as though you've been transported into another time. As the name suggests, our winery symbolizes the eagle's inspiration, strength and independence. During your visit it’s possible that you may see this magnificent bird soaring high above us.

The Eagle Castle founders, Gary and Marylou Stemper, were high school sweethearts, raised in Paso Robles. Early in their marriage, they embarked on an adventure of travel with the Department of Defense, but when it came time to start a family, they returned home, to their roots. "Paso Robles is a very special place, with a spirit of can-do and caring for its fellow man," says Marylou. Throughout their marriage, the Stempers have enjoyed touring international castles, especially those in England. Marylou's ancestry is English, which explains the dream of building a castle. The couple has always loved the wine industry, and they were involved with other wineries, both as partners and growers. In 2001 the Stempers formed an LLC with investors, most of whom own vineyards.

All of our wines are crafted with Paso Robles' fruit. The grapes are sourced from six separate vineyards, totaling approximately 750 acres, located on both the west and east sides of Paso Robles. This arrangement allows for a variety of blending options, while taking advantage of the individual microclimates of the Paso Robles appellation.

Whether you are in the area to enjoy wine-tasting or planning your next celebration at Eagle Castle Winery, we hope your visit is ‘A Royal Experience.’

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
