Cathie Winmill winemaker and owner of Comfort Cellars Winery retired from the Army in 1994 with the rank of Major. Shortly after retirement her husband Ralph Wheeler Col. USAF was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. Cathie found grief therapy in the form of relocating a lot of rock when she started planting her vineyard, just outside of Comfort, in 1997. As with her military career she added another acronym to her resume. R.R.S. Rock Relocation specialist.

The winery was started a year later on her property in the quaint town of Comfort. The tasting room is located in a restored circa 1904 Hill Country Home complete with a wood burning stove. In the 10 years since the winery opened Cathie has continued to break ground in the unusual wines department. Raisin wine, an Orange wine and a Jalapeño wine. Yes you read that right. A Jalapeño wine, great for cooking, marinating or Texas Style adventurous drinking! Be sure to ask for a Hill Country Hottie the next time you visit the tasting room.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
