"Colibri" translated to English means "Hummingbird. Like the delicate and well-balanced flight of the Colibri, our wines are both delicate and well balanced, while still maintaining their full bodied nature that is characteristic with the wines of the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Colibri Ridge Winery & Vineyard is a small family owned winery located on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Foothills in the southern part of El Dorado County . The winery & vineyard is located high on a ridge top within the "Fair Play" American Viticultural Area (AVA). The free draining de-composed granite soils and the gentle afternoon breezes, combined with the abundance of warmth from the summer sun during the day, and our cool nights produce the quality fruit that makes our delicately balanced and full-bodied wines.

The winery & vineyard overlook the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range with spectacular views of the immediate area, and the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys. Tasting is conducted within our working winery and is nestled amongst the fine French and American oak wine barrels used to store and age our wines. During the harvest season (commonalty known as the crush), which begins in early September and extends through October, you may be able to see the winemaker at work creating the wines of the future.

Our secluded picnic areas are nestled amongst the mature oak trees and large granite rock outcroppings providing both the spectacular views our vineyard and the surrounding areas, and a sense of romantic privacy.

We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please plan on visiting our winery on your next visit to the foothills. You wont' be disappointed.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
