Dave has had a very diverse career. As a youth Dave was always entrepreneurial, having many self employed businesses. After graduation as a Mechanical Engineer he started a diverse corporate career. Where he learned a great deal about manufacturing and developed an excellent business background.

After 15 years in the corporate world, he decided to pursue an entrepreneurial calling. With his love for the outdoors and plants, he purchased a small garden center and landscape business with great potential. He and his wife, Linda, worked hard in developing and expanding the business. After they had developed the business into a fairly substantial business that could run on its own and their children had all moved on to their own careers, they decided to sell the business and move on to a new career.

With Dave’s love for agriculture, his desire for manufacturing and a true interest in wine, he and his wife started Coastal Vineyards in 2004. They found a 14 acre plot of land that had been farmed with corn and they started to prepare the soil in 2004. In 2005 they planted 4200 vines and planted another 4800 vines in 2006, while also developing the infrastructure of the vineyards. In 2007 Dave started to assemble the winery and by late 2008 they have a full functioning winery.

In 2008 they produced a small quantity of wine from their first small crop of grapes. This allowed them to fine tune the commercial process. In the fall of 2008 they harvested seven tons of grapes for their first commercial production run. They bottled this wine in the summer of 2009.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
