One of the finest estate wineries on the east coast, Chrysalis Vineyards has established a series of superlative vineyards rolling across more than 71 acres in the foothills of the Northern Blue Ridge & Bull Run Mountains, with additional plantings to come. Our goal is to create vineyards and winery facilities of the highest quality, achieved through a commitment to detail and particularized attention to each aspect of the grape growing and the winemaking process.

We are excited about our alternative vinifera varieties, some of which include: the French Viognier, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Fer Servadou, and Petit Manseng; the Spanish AlbariƱo, Tempranillo and Graciano. But we're most excited about Virginia's own native grape, Norton. This heirloom gem consistently produces premium quality red wines of great character and intensity, and being a native plant it is highly disease-resistant, able to be cultivated with minimal environmental impact. Throughout the 1800's, and up until Prohibition, Norton was recognized internationally for its distinctive robust reds with overtones of berry and pitted fruits. Building on its resurgence in popularity, Chrysalis Vineyards is committed to restoring Norton to its rightful position of prominence among fine wines. Presently, we have the largest planting of this American treasure in the world.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
