Christopher Bridge Cellars and Satori Springs Vineyard are owned and managed by the Carlberg family since their inception in 2001 and 1998 respectively. Chris’ parents Ragnhild and Wolfgang Carlberg purchased the nearly 80 acre farm in 1952 primarily for its stunning Willamette Valley views and close proximity to Portland.

They raised their family of three children here while primarily working the ground with their hands. The farm was a simple affair with beef cattle and blackcaps as the main crops. In 1993, ownership passed to Chris and Susanne Carlberg. After 30 years in teaching here and in Germany, Chris decided to devote himself to a new career in the wine industry with an initial planting of 3,600 vinifera vines and establishing Satori Springs Vineyard in 1998. The estate winery followed in 2007.

Chris Camarda, brother-in-law to Chris Carlberg, helped launch the Christopher Bridge brand by taking in its first three harvests in 2001,’ 02 and ‘03 at Andrew Will Winery/ Vashon Island, Washington. Laurent Montalieu of Northwest Wine Company in McMinnville, Oregon, succeeded him in the 2004,’05 and’06 vintages. In 2007, Chris and Susanne decided to take over the reigns of winemaking and established their small onsite winery above Satori Springs Vineyard.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
