Changala Winery is the culmination of a dream for co-owners Jean and Heidi Changala. Both have been involved in the wine industry for a number of years beginning with growing grapes and winemaking at their Templeton home in the 1980’s.
Jean worked at Martin Brothers Winery in 1987 and moved to Meridian Vineyards in 1988 where he stayed for 12 years. Jean and Heidi became co-owners of HMR Winery in Paso Robles in 1997 and ventured out to start the tiny Changala Winery in 2001.

During the course of these experiences both Jean and Heidi expanded their knowledge of the industry with technical courses at Cal Poly and UC Davis as well practical experience and support from local growers and winemakers.

Grape sources include several Paso Robles appellation vineyards that the Changala's have worked with for several years. In addition to Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon from their home vineyard, the Changala's work with a few growers who are committed to growing the very best grapes to ensure excellent quality in the grapes received at the winery.

Working with these growers, the goal at Changala Winery is to produce consistently excellent wines that emphasize the fruit of the vineyard.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
