California Cellars is dedicated to the responsible cultivation of our land. Our 102 acre estate is located within a beautifully sculptured, microclimate – located within the Clarksburg growing region. Geographically, we are a short distance to the south of Napa and next to the town of Lodi. On a clear day, we can see the snow capped mountains of the foothills to the East.

Six years ago, when we began, we had 40 acres of Chardonnay and 40 acres of Merlot. Today, we continue to produce Chardonnay and Merlot, but have branched into some different varietals at the suggestion of Bill Dyer. They say, “Variety is the spice of life”, well we needed more spice! We are now growing and harvesting Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Petite Sirah, Gewurztraminer, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Some of these grapes will be put back into the wines for blending to add some complexity to our wines. Other grapes, like our Petite Sirah are going to be used exclusively on our award winning Select Harvest, that recently won a Double Gold, in the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Contest.

Our mission all along is to make fantastic wines at reasonable prices. We are continually striving to improve the quality and complexity of our wines. We are now selling our wines into more than 30 states and internationally to the Pacific Rim.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
