Bryn Mawr Vineyards is located in the Eola Hills in the central part of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. We are 11 miles northwest of the city of Salem and approximately sixty miles south of Portland. Our vineyard is located high above the valley floor which makes our vineyards and winery one of the few in the region with views of both the Coastal Mountain range to the West and the Cascade Mountains to the East.

The soils of Bryn Mawr are volcanic in origin and, like others in the Eola-Amity Hills, tend to be shallower than other areas in the Willamette Valley. The afternoon breezes that come from the Van Duzer Pass cools our grapes and preserve their natural acidity. This helps create bright, fresh wines that also reflect the structure and depth of our terroir.

On our 20 acre plot we have planted 6 acres of grapes in 3 blocks. The "Jeffrey's Block" vineyard was planted between 1994 and 1997. It has a southeast slope and contains Tempranillo and Chardonnay grapes in addition to Pinot Noir. The "Krista's Block" was planted in 2002 and has a southern facing slope. The grapes are primarily Pinot Noir –a field blend of the Dijon clones 113,115, 666 and 777. In the summer of 2010 Krista's Block was extended by adding the Pinot Noir clone Pommard, and planting additional 777. Our largest new area was also planted in the summer of 2010, and has been named "David's Block" and contains Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
