Brown County Winery was established in 1985 by David and Cynthia Schrodt. Dave was a winemaker and had his eye on Nashville, a scenic arts and crafts community in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana. He was sure it would be a prime location for a small winery. Space was rented and production began, producing five wines the first year. It wasn't long before the Schrodts built a
winery on their property near Lake Lemon.

Dave continued to produce award-winning dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines from French Hybrid grapes grown in the Midwest and from a variety of berries and apples.
The business continued to grow and demand for Brown County wine increased. The original winery was
no longer large enough. It was time to expand.

Property was soon purchased on State Road 46 East, five minutes east of Nashville in what we like to refer to as
"Downtown Gnawbone". A new winery, twice as large as the old one, with a tasting room and gift shop was open for business in August of 2000. In 2006, the tasting room, a mainstay of the downtown Nashville scene, moved 50 feet north, just south of the courthouse. Expansion continued into the Spring of 2007 and a new warehouse was built which quickly filled up. As we continue
to grow our Southern Indiana hospitality and atmosphere will not
change.

Our goal at Brown County Winery is to produce high quality local wines, and offer them at a reasonable
price. We want our customers to have an educational and enjoyable tasting experience, in a relaxed
atmosphere. Our wines exemplify what Brown County is all about, handcrafted locally made products.

Our wine making style emphasizes natural flavors in our grape wines, as well as our fruit wines. At Brown County Winery we're not afraid to use cranberries,
blackberries, raspberries, or any other type of fruit to create our next new product. Although our best selling wines are sweet and semi-sweet, we also offer award winning dry wines.

Quality wine should be available to everyone regardless of their experience. Finding a wine to match your individual taste is easy whether you're an
experienced wine consumer or a novice. No matter what your personal taste we guarantee that your visit to Brown County Winery will prove to be an enjoyable,
satisfying, and a highlight of your trip to Brown County.
