A National Historic Landmark, Boxwood is located in Middleburg Virginia, an area steeped in Revolutionary and Civil War History, renowned for world-famous horse farms and today as a respected wine region, designated in 2013 as an American Viticultural Area.

In 2005 Rita and John Kent Cooke established a sustainable vineyard at Boxwood planting Bordeaux certified clones licensed by the French Government and constructed a world-class winery to produce blended Bordeaux style wines, under the direction of internationally acclaimed winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt.

Boxwood Winery produces estate-grown red wines in three styles in the Bordeaux tradition from five varieties of grapes certified by the French government: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. All wines except for Rosé are barrel aged in French oak for 12 months. All wines are bottled on-site and stored at the winery.
