Contact: Becky Brinkley

Growing up in Poteau made it easy for Becky Pickle Brinkley to come home! Becky is the daughter of the late Clyde Pickle of Poteau and current resident, Carolyn Cheely Turney of Poteau. Becky graduated in 1980 and moved to Oklahoma City. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at the University of Central Oklahoma and is currently running the Black Sheep Winery full time. Becky has two daughters that are supportive of her and the business, Cari Lyn Page of Poteau and Candice Lee Hokett of Oklahoma City. And her sister, Brenda Darling, who goes to all the festivals and helps her anytime she needs anything for the business. Candice is in charge of sales and marketing for the Oklahoma City metro area. Candice is the "go to" for wine information and tastings in that area.

It wasn't until Becky and a friend had visited her friend Jerry Delaney, at Delaney's Vineyards & Winery in Grapevine, Texas that she decided that's what she wanted to bring to the Poteau area. Wineries are a wonderful tourist destination for many travelers on the weekend for short trips around the state and adjoining states to Oklahoma.

The winery and production facility relocated in Feburary 2010 to 712 S. Broadway in Poteau. The winery and tasting room are open Wednesday-Saturday. The winery opens at 11:00am. If you come by and we are not at our facility, please call, we are always eager to serve you!

The Black Sheep Winery wines have received several medals from the Oklahoma State Fair. Robert Turney is currently the winemaker for Black Sheep Winery. Black Sheep Winery is a place to come with your wife, girlfriend, mother, husband, boyfriend, other family members, or just a place for friends to meet and have a good time. You will be able to taste any of their twenty different wines to find the one or ones that suit your taste and needs.

The winery is also a wonderful place for small meeting groups such as "Bunko", a bridal shower, bachelorette party, luncheon or meeting. The winery can seat 2-32 for small meetings or “get togethers”. Have your food catered in for any event.

I am learning that things change, people change, and it doesn't mean you forget the past or try to cover it up. It simply means that you move on and treasure the memories. Letting go doesn't mean giving up... it means accepting that some things weren't meant to be.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable: A Tipsy Search

  Best Books of the Year

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
