We are very happy to release our second set of 2008 wines to you all. This vintage is our fifth, and we’re very proud of it despite not having the opportunity to offer our traditional lineup of wines.

Though the heart and soul of Anthill Farms is Pinot Noir, Syrah has always captivated us. There may be no other grape that can perform as interestingly in so many different regions of California. Our Windsor Oaks Syrah started as a “one-off” wine, but we found it to be so compelling year after year that it has remained in our stable four years straight.

Our Windsor Oaks Syrah is joined this year by the Peters Syrah. Randy Peters planted less than an acre of Syrah and Viognier for us a few years ago just to the west of our Pinot Noir blocks. This wine, which hails from a very cool site, has a quite different profile and perfume than the Windsor Oaks. We think you will enjoy it.

Both Syrahs, like all of our wines, are made with the same focus: intensive farming, mindful cultural practices, attentive winemaking, and, of course, maximum vineyard expression with minimal interference from us. Regardless of varietal or price, we simply want our wines to speak for themselves, and, of course, to taste good.

We’d like to offer a few logistical notes: once again, we’ll be using our online ordering system. Please place your order as soon as possible to receive all the wines you’d like and let us know if you have any login issues. We’ll be shipping to most locations the first or second week of November, weather permitting. Our pickup day at the winery will be Saturday, October 30th, from 12–4pm. We’ll pour some of our 2009 wines, as well as these two Syrahs. Lastly, you can expect the new release in early February of 2011.

We’re delighted to be able to share these wines with you. It’s been a pleasure to make these, and, in turn, we hope that they are a pleasure to drink. Please also remember that we are always available for comments and questions, so stay in touch.
