Alexander and Wayne is the continuation of one of the oldest wineries in Santa Barbara County, originally founded in 1981. The current owners acquired the business in 1992. In 2005, we introduced the name Alexander and Wayne to replace the previous "Los Olivos Vintners", and the transition will be complete in 2007. The name change occurred because the town of Los Olivos had three (now two) wine shops that offered wine tasting and sales and had "Los Olivos" in the names. This resulted in confusion is finding our location and in separating us as a winery from the wine shops. The solution to those problems is "Alexander and Wayne." Our production remains small, about 2500 cases of premium handcrafted wines. Our choice of varieties includes the classics native to the Burgundy and Bordeaux regions of France and some sweet wines. To this selection we have recently added Tempranillo, the best of the Spanish varieties, and will likely add one or two additional varieties for release in 2007. Our tasting room is located in downtown Los Olivos on Grand Avenue. We produce all our own wines in our own winery from grapes we purchase locally. Most of our wines bear vineyard designations, as well as the AVA from which they are sourced.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
