Sweet plums on the nose and palate of this full-bodied smooth California Cabernet from Zac Brown, the lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band. The winemaker is John Killebrew. The 2016 harvest took place later than average and lasted longer. Lots of chocolate flavours mixed with sweet berries. Pair with grilled meats.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: tourtière, beef sliders, grilled sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cedar and dried herbs open on the nose on this one. Fairly vibrant fruit on the palate, more than the nose suggests. Good concentration. Silky, smooth with good balance. This is well structured and drinks like a wine far more expensive than this. Very good value. Pair with burgers, pasta with meat sauce. Tasted Nov 22, 2019 www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

A medium-bodied Californian Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has dark berry aromas with notes of chocolate. The palate is jammy with fruit, well-balanced and has a medium finish. Drink now with casual fare like barbequed beef ribs or pork loin chops.
Z. Alexander Brown Uncaged is a label of Zac Brown (lead singer of the three-time Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band) and made by winemaker John Killebrew. The 2016 growing season was perfect for growing the Cabernet Sauvignon wine grapes for this wine. Enough rain, an early bud break, followed by a mild spring and no frost. Harvest was early and the winery was able to pick grapes at their optimal ripeness. Look for bright, dark berry fruit, vanilla, sweet spices and dark chocolate notes. Finishes long. Enjoy now with grilled lamb chops. This vintage wine was awarded Gold at the 2018 Los Angeles International Wine Awards. - Community Wine Reviews
