A medium-bodied, vibrant Barossa Valley Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre (GSM) from Yalumba. Juicy with strawberry, plum, cedar spice and savoury herb flavours on the palate. Each varietal was hand-picked and small-batch fermented with some aged in French oak barrels, puncheons and oak vats to increase the complexity of the final wine . The GSM blend is a stalwart of the Barossa. Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre vines were planted in this region over 170 years ago and were initially blended to make a fortified, tawny port style wine.

Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre food pairings: BBQ T-bone steak, seasoned wedges, pasta with bacon and truffle.

Reviews and Ratings

Trent Mayers rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre (GSM) are the calling card grapes of the Southern Rhone although this wine is from Australia’s Barossa Valley. Note that the label states Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro, which are synonymous names for the aforementioned grapes. This is an excellent, full bodied take on Southern Rhone style with plenty of strawberry jam, plum, leather, raspberry, black pepper, earth, vanilla, smoke, sage, and cedar. Drinking nicely now and should hold until 2023. Great paired with steak with roasted garlic and herbs or your favourite pizza.

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Red cherry, black cherry, plum, prune, and graphite aromas with earth, smoke, and dried fruit on the finish. Soft tannins, integrated acidity, and just a hint of warmth on the finish. A pleasant medium red of Rhone heritage from its Australian location. Ideal for chicken, pork, and beef dishes, especially stir fry.
From the Barossa Valley, South Australia, Yalumba The Strapper 2016 Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre (GSM) is a vegan-friendly, medium-bodied and sensuous red blend. At first whiff, you can smell the cedar spice, scrubby shrub and savoury herb aromas of the Barossa. Rich on the palate with ripe red fruits, plum compote and white pepper flavours finishing long on the palate. Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre vines were planted in this region over 170 years ago and were initially blended to make a fortified, tawny port style wine. - Community Wine Reviews
