The 2018 Chardonnay was aged in whisky barrels, which gives this rich, full-bodied wine some toffee notes on the nose. This wine would be terrific with smoked chicken in a cream sauce, lobster in melting butter or a mushroom risotto.

Chardonnay food pairings: smoked cheddar, turkey pot pie, creamy mushroom risotto.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Whisky barrels add a lot of body and softness to this flavourful Chardonnay. Aromas of golden apple, toffee and caramel. Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity, ripe apple and pear flavours on the palate, and a hint of baking spice on the finish. Enjoy with roasted chicken.
From the Niagara Peninsula, Ontario wine region, Wayne Gretzky 2018 Chardonnay is smoky, full-bodied and rich with ripe orchard fruit, toffee, vanilla, lemon zesty and toasty oak sweet spicy flavours on the palate. The Chard was aged in previous use whisky oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
