Villa Raiano 2012 is a full-bodied, grippy red wine made from Aglianico grapes. Look for black cherry, sweet and savoury spices on the nose and flavours on the palate. The estate was established in 1996 by Sabino and Simone Basso and their brother-in-law, Paolo Sibillo. Decant for two hours and pair with a rare beefsteak or hold in cellar for five years.

Taurasi food pairings: grilled pork chops, rack of BBQ ribs, grilled lamb, lentil dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

From Taurasi in the Campania wine region, Villa Raiano 2012 is a full-bodied, grippy red wine made from Aglianico grapes. Look for black cherry, sweet and savoury spices on the nose and flavours on the palate. The estate was established in 1996 by Sabino and Simone Basso and their brother-in-law, Paolo Sibillo. The name Villa Raiano is derived from the name of a small ‘borgo’ (borough) of Serino, the town in which the winery is presently located. The property’s 40 acres are planted around the hills of the “Irpinia” area in Avellino. Pair with smoked charcuterie and game meats. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
