The grapes for this robust Australian red wine were basket pressed, and the wine itself was aged in new and second-use French oak barrels. Classic Shiraz with aromas of purple and black fleshy plums and spice. Pair with roast beef.

Shiraz food pairings: kangaroo tenderloin, bison burgers, rare rib steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

The Lane Vineyard continues to impress me with the premium wines they're producing from their boutique winery in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Block 14 Basket Press Shiraz comes from a small parcel on their estate vineyard that's perched high up on a hill. With only 860 cases produced, this limited availability wine will not last long once it hits the LCBO shelves in mid-December 2016. The colour is a deep ruby with a purple hue, the nose is loaded with concentrated black cherry, bramble, black currant, black raspberry jam, graphite, Allspice, bacon and sweet pipe tobacco. Rich, layered, and textured, the fine tannins complement the plush yet refreshing mouthfeel that makes this a terrific fire side wine. Enjoy 2016-2022 with Stilton sirloin burgers with onion jam, braised short ribs, or filet mignon with rich balsamic glaze. Tasted December 2016. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
The Lane Vineyard, Basket Press Block 14 (2013) is made from 100% Shiraz. From South Australia's cooler Adelaide Hills wine region, this wine is fresh and fruitful black berry and cherry fruit. The wine is elegant and well structured. - Community Wine Reviews
