Reviews and Ratings

90 Points by John Szabo, MS, Wine Align, March 1, 2017
"There's some real depth and spicy flavour intensity here, melding some dried red berry-cherry fruit with black liquorice and cranberry chutney flavours in a complex guise. I like the firm and dusty tannins and balanced-firm acids, as well as the very good length. Solid. Tasted February 2017."
92 POINTS by Michael Godel, Wine Align, March 1, 2017
"The Carmignano leader's 2012 is in a sangiovese state of grace at the present time, with the ripe fruit at its apex and the managing partners of acidity and tannin still performing with strong ability. The structure here is equally capable and like the recently tasted 2007, able to balance the ripeness of fruit with its own fine sweetness. The most interesting part is the VA that comes out on the palate in the form of an earthy, tangy pastille. This volatility swirled into the variegaion of tannin and oak is something that never appeared on the nose. It is another component that will increase the wine's ability to age. Fine vintage for Capezzana and one that should age just like that 2007. Drink 2017-20iDrink 2017-2024."
92 POINTS by RICK VANSICKLE, WINES IN NIAGARA, March 26, 2016
"The blend is 80% Sangiovese with the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 12 months in French oak. The nose shows penetrating spicy red fruits, cloves, barrel oak nuances and black currants. On the palate look for sweet, ripe tannins, a well-balanced basket of red fruits, oak spice in an elegant, yet structured package that shows length and polish through the finish."
from the Carmignano wine growing region Tenuta Di Capezzana (2012) is beefy with cherry and plum fruit on the palate finishing with soft and dusty tannins. The Carmignano DOCG zones covers roughly 270 acres. Sangiovese-based wines from this lowland area have lower acidity and more structured tannins than wine grapes grown in other Tuscan wine regions. - Community Wine Reviews
