Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Although I didn't think I could wait this long to try Road 13 Vineyards Seventy-Four K (2019), I am glad I did. It's truly a masterfully crafted wine and drinking beautifully now, although it does have the lush fruit, fresh acidity and body to cellar for a further three years.

Seventy-Four K (2019) is a Merlot-driven blend with Syrah, Cabernet Franc and splashes of several other estate grown varietals from a good vintage. The wine is dry, full-bodied, lush and plushy on the palate with ripe dark plum, a mouthful of ripe blueberry, dark cherry, menthol, dark chocolate, vanilla, dried sweet tobacco leaf, cinnamon and well-integrated oak spice flavours, fresh and long on the palate. Tannins are rich and pleasantly grippy.

Grapes for this vintage were sourced from both the Similkameen and Okanagan Valley vineyards and varietals were individually fermented and aged in French oak barrels (20% new) prior to the final assemblage and then aged 10 months in bottle. With each bottle purchased, Road 13 will donate $1 to next-gen farmer training in regenerative agriculture because as the winery states “It’s all about the dirt.” Tasted February 2022.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
