From the Rioja wine region, R. López de Heredia Tondonia Reserva 2008 is a mature, elegant and savoury Tempranillo red blend with 90% Garnacha and 5% each of Mazuelo and Graciano. Lovely on the nose with dried red berry, cherry fruit aromas; dry and vibrant with red berry, cherry, earthy and balsamic flavours on the palate. Pour with grilled lamb chops.

Food pairings: prime rib roast, pork chops, veal cutlets.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Tasted in 2021. This wine is showing beautiful age but still a lot of life. Aromas of red currant and cherry, along with dried herbs, graphite and leather. Full bodied with dry, dusty tannins, and dried and tart berry notes, and a bit of blasamic. Slightly earthy more more dried herbs and an almost mineral hint on the finish. Enjoy with roasted leg of lamb. Lovely, and still a few years of life left in this.
