Reviews and Ratings

Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Black fruit aromas with ripe plum, mocha and vanilla on the palate. A soft finish adds a hint of smoke.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Nice work Peter Lehman! Luscious black fruit (black plum, cassis) dark chocolate, leather and a little eucalyptus/mint stand out on the aromas and palate. Medium bodied, medium acidity and smooth tannins. Try pairing this robust red with some mesquite BBQ ribs!
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby, cherry, plum and baking spice on the nose. Blackberry on the palate with a hint of mint and some earthy and cedar tones. Medium body with good balance and a long finish. Solid wine and good value. Tasted April 2015
Portrait Shiraz is made in the tradition of the very first Peter Lehmann
wine, and represents the heart of Peter’s Barossa.
Fruit from more than 60 growers across the length and breadth of the
Barossa makes up the final blend, affording consistency to the original
Peter Lehmann style: robust and generous.
Several of these vineyards are now 100 years old or more. But age alone
doesn’t make a great Shiraz – it is how the vineyard is managed, the
quality of Peter Lehmann Shiraz continues to improve as growers evolve
and adopt new practices in the vineyard that allow us to make better
wine.
Winemaker’s note The monumental 2013 red wine vintage in the Barossa has
produced a Shiraz with deep colour and a bouquet of dark
forest fruits with a hint of chocolate and vanilla in the background.
This is a full bodied, richly flavoured wine with soft,
velvet tannins and while drinking beautifully now can be
cellared with confidence for another 5-10 years if so desired.
Vintage The 2013 vintage was our earliest and one of the driest and
quickest for many years. The weather remained warm to hot
throughout but without any extended heat waves and the
unusually small crop has produced highly coloured, richly
structured red wines destined for many years in the cellaran
outstanding red wine vintage.
Vineyards
Winemaking Fruit was fermented on skins for ten days. Following
pressing, clarification and blending, the wine was matured in
French and American oak hogsheads for 12 months prior to
