Marqués De Vitoria Reserva 2014 Tempranillo is fragrant on the nose with dark berry compote, sous bois, cocoa and espresso aromas. On the palate, it is supple with spiced dark plum, balsamic, dark chocolate and savoury herb flavours lingering and mouth-filling on the palate. Wine grapes were sourced from vineyards about 650 metres above sea level with a minimum of 12 months ageing in French and American oak barrels. Pour with grilled lamb chops and Pecorino cheese.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb and root vegetables, barbecued pork spareribs, sizzling New York strip steaks, veal chops, strong cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This flavourful Rioja has a rich ruby colour. A highly perfumed nose piques your interest with notes of ripe cherries, blackcurrants, vanilla, spice, kid leather,(think gloves) mocha and cedar. The very harmonious palate reflects these flavours with a pronounced fruity emphasis and vibrant acidity. Then there's a very long, sensuous and fragrant finish. This wine truly engages your senses from the first whiff to the last lingering drop.
It's a wine you can savour with a variety of food from roast lamb or pork, duck, spicy shrimp or bouillabaisse. It's also delightful with dark chocolate or berry desserts. Aged minimum 12 mos. in French and American oak. Definitely one to remember and buy again. This vintage won the Gold Medal, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2020. Highly recommended!

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lovely and rich, with aromas of blackberry and black plums, along with warm earthy and evergreen notes, and a bit of warm spice. Full bodied on the palate, with bright acidity, and soft yet grippy tannins. There is a bit of minerality mingled with rich fruit flavours on the palate and hints of mocha and warm spices on the finish. Enjoy with pan seared duck breast.
