The 2017 Côtes du Rhône Villages Le Ponnant is a full-bodied and savoury red blend of mostly Grenache with equal amounts of Syrah and Mourvèdre added. Hats off to Winemaker Stéphane Vedeau on this rich, medium-plus-bodied, dry red with ripe red berry, cherry, savoury herb and cake spice flavours on the palate.

Food pairings: braised beef ribs, Porterhouse steak, standing rib roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A generous wine with more depth and structure than its price would suggest. Fleshy plum, dried flowers, leather and coffee. The flavours just keep coming at you. Full bodied with a fresh enough acidity to keep this voluptuous wine lean on the palate. 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre partially aged in oak for 8 months, this wine is certainly more fruit dominated than oak influenced. Unfiltered. Purity. Try it with Ottolenghi's lamb meatloaf with tahini and tomatoes
La Ferme Du Mont Le Ponnant 2017 is a full-bodied, unfiltered Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre red wine blend produced by Winemaker, Stéphane Vedeau. Smooth, elegant and satisfying with dark fruit, cherry liqueur, dried flowers, leather and spice flavours, finishing long and luxurious on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews
