Chocolate and mocha from oak aging. Savoury and juicy. The woodsy, cedar brush, wild berry notes on the nose. Full-bodied with lots of layers and terrific complexity. Pair with rare steak.

Food pairings: grilled steak, pan-roasted beef filet and rösti potatoes, cheeseburgers, turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lots of black cherry and black plum skin, along with menthol, animal hide, roasted herbs, meat blood, and dried tobacco. Perfectly paired with marinated steaks. 91 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

BIG aromas ! big berry character on the nose, with heavy use of oak. Solid tannins all in a medium weight of flavours. A little hedonistic in it's style if not in power.
Love the woodsy, cedar brush, wild berry notes on Grand Vin De Glenelly (2010). Great value on this full-bodied red from South Africa that opens in layers and with terrific complexity. Pair with rare steak. This South African red wine blend is made from 42% Shiraz, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot grapes. The 2010 is an impressive, delicious and balanced with intense cherry and black fruit. - Community Wine Reviews
