A pleasant Bordeaux red wine made of a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The vines are planted in soils of marl, oyster shells and calcareous. Aromas of dark red fruits, smoke and oak. Pair with a arare steak.

Food pairings: grilled rare steaks, blackened ribs with BBQ sauce, coq au vin, Cornish game hen, tomato tarte.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Medoc, located at the left bank of the Gironde in Bordeaux, is where this classically styles wine comes from. it's mostly Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon representing only 40%. This probably means the wines were grown in the cooler, clay heavy soils of the Left Bank.
The colour is nice and deep. Dark ruby, with purple moments.
The aromas have a great nose of olive, sage, walnuts, black cherries, plum, lilac, and cocoa.
The palate is quite ripe and ready. 2011 Was a patchy vintage generally better for drinking soon. This one has great ripeness to it, though. More plum, olive, fig, chocloate, red apple skin, and ripe blackberry.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Have it with a roast duck, trimmed with root vegetables, and dried herbs.
90 POINTS WINE ENTHUSIAST
"Complex and solid, it holds rich berry fruits, a darkly tannic structure, dense texture and a juicy acidity. This firm wine has a good future, so don't drink before 2017." - May 2014, ROGER VOSS
From Médoc wine region in Bordeaux, Château Grivière (2011) is a wine blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Needs three years of cellar time to show its best. - Community Wine Reviews
