Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

At 100% Sangiovese, this Chianti is quite rare, as most Chiantis contain some percentage of other grapes. By law a Chianti is only required to contain 80% Sangiovese. Seductively earthy, with game and tobacco on the nose, it’s immediately clear, this is serious wine. Dates and dried fruit, mocha, balsamic, leather, and dark cherries on the palate, with good balance and evident tannins. Decant at least 30 minutes before serving. It will develop nicely as it opens up, the tannins will soften, the game and earth notes, along with the elegant fruitiness will come forward. A perfect pairing with heavy, long-braised meat dishes.
Castello Di Gabbiano Bellezza Gran Selezione 2013 is a full-bodied Chianti Classico made from 100% Sangiovese. Look for dried cherry, dusty herb and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Great acidity to match this food wine with your favourite tomato sauce and meat pasta dish. Drink now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
