A rustic, very tannic Spanish red wine with loads of toasty oak and dark chocolate on the nose. Decant 2 hours and pair with brontosaurus burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

This wine has a big nose! First whiff is a rustic cellar floor. Underneath the dirt is cassis, smoke, juniper, garrigue, eucalyptus, mocha, vanilla, .leather, oak. Tannic drying mouthfeel suggests decanting prior to enjoyment. Long tannic finish. Medium acidity. Pair with red meat.
Tasted: January 2015
The 2010 vintage of the Caesar Mencia has been influenced by the moderating breezes of the Atlantic Ocean. Mencia, was once considered to be Cabernet Franc with its herbal profile but no longer post DNA testing. The vines are planted in clay soils which results in concentrated wines. - Community Wine Reviews
